Another question we are faced with is “Should I perform a loan modification and try to keep my home versus short selling?” That is a great question. If you were to look at the numbers, 99% of Loan modifications have not gone through year to date, and on top of that you have to come out of pocket with money in order to hire an attorney to get it done. A short sale is just the opposite. We ask the bank to pay all costs involved of the short sale process as well as the debt you are short on your home. This debt is forgiven and you will not be taxed on any of the monies owed. (remember, this is for your principal residence)
